Here is the very BEST & Most Cost Effective upgrade you can make for your guitar's tone.  Precision Matched CTS Audio Taper, Long Shaft Pre-Assembled Pot kit for Gibson Les Paul  guitars. Ready to drop in your control cavity.

Offered in limited quantity/availability and for guitar players who want serious tone! Everyone knows CTS is the absolute best when your talking guitar pots. Most don't realize that CTS pots right off the shelf are rarely 500K.  Due to mass production with little regard to tolerances, the vast majority are far below the expected 500K. Put an ohm meter on a set of new CTS pots and you will be hard pressed to find one at 500K.  Most will be in the 350-440K range. Any guitar tone guru will tell you that you need at least 500K pots in a humbucker circuit for best tone and control. With true 500K or more, treble is less harsh and your overall tone is perfectly balanced. With matched volume pots your controls have a positive well balanced taper. With other matched sets offered elsewhere on the web, they boast tolerance ranges of +/- 20% which means you could still end up with a set of 480K pots. My pot sets offered here are precision matched at a + tolerance which means each pot is guaranteed to read over 500K on the ohm meter. Each pot is tagged with it's exact K-value and matched in sets of four to their closest values. These are the very best CTS pot sets available anywhere, period.

This pre assembled kit is wired for a modern "stock" LP configuration and includes (4) Precision Matched Long Shaft 500K pots, (2) Genuine Sprague Orange Drop .022 mfd 200V Tone Caps, ready to drop into your Les Paul. I always include 2 nuts per long shaft pot, as well as easy to read color wiring diagrams for eight of the most popular Les Paul wiring configurations.  Also included is 5' length of Gibson vintage style metal braided single conductor pickup wire. Simply solder your existing pickups, switch, ground lead, and jack according to the easy to read diagrams and your good to go.

The common ground wire I solder between pots is rare vintage NOS silver plated 20 gauge solid conductor copper wire. Same as Gibson used from the 1950's through the 1970's. It grounds all pots together for an excellent ground connection, and it looks far better than wire lengths pieced together.

Compatibility:This pot assembly fits Gibson Les Pauls, Epiphone Les Pauls,  LP Clones, or other humbucker guitar projects with thick tops. These will not fit Vintage Les Paul's or the VOS Historic Reissues which use short shafts. Please check your application prior to purchase. 3/8" shafts are the short type, 3/4" shafts are the Long. (measure the threaded part of the shaft). **The pot values on the set you receive may differ slightly from the values shown in the photo, however the ones you receive will all be over 500K.

Matched CTS pot sets are rarely available.  I am the only one offering "Matched" sets of CTS pots here on ebay. Check my feedback, Buy with confidence!

These Genuine Sprague Orangdrop tone caps are a favorite with my matched pot sets. They have the same  tone as the vintage Bumblebees but won't break the bank! & when you dial up the tone controls, they have a little more bite when you need it.

Check out the photos below, including one of my matched prewired sets installed in an early 1980's Les Paul Standard.

Here are some actual emails I received from customers

Hey Dude;

I bought two sets of your pot kits last week and you are right!!!!! These pots rock!! I can't believe the difference. I put them in a Gibson VOS R6 and a VOS R7.  The pots that came with these guitars were supposed to be CTS 500K. I put them on the meter, and none of them even came close to 500K!!!! Keep up the good work. I will definitely be a return customer!!!

Hi David,

Your pot kit arrived last Friday, and yesterday my Epi was ready with your kit installed. Man, very good!! very damn good!!! Thanks allot for selling these kits! I am very pleased. The volume and tone are allot more usable, the tone is allot more clear and all of the muddiness of the neck pickup is gone now! It's just allot more musical in a whole sense. I'm going to try the 50's wiring configuration from your diagram now to see how far I can go with this Korean made Epi's tone. Considering the investment with your kit, this was way better than all the pickups I've changed. Well, that's it! Very cool, I'm gonna keep this one for good!!! Class A service man!!

Hello Dave,

Just finished my Epi with your pot kit and WOW!!!  Dude, my Epi blew my buddies Gibson Les Paul Standard away!!!!!!  I can't believe the sound from your pots!  I used to have to play on 6 on my volume controls and now I can play on 3 with loud pure tone! Clean or distorted. I am absolutely speechless. Everyone here is asking me what is that sound and where did I get it! Thanks man. I will forever buy your parts.

Hi Dave,

What a tone monster my Gibson project has turned out to be & with your electronics kit I might add. What really "blind-sided" me are those Orange drop tone caps! I've never used them on humbucker pickups before. They remind me of the old oil filled bumblebees, but with a bit more bite. The 500k matched pots are a huge contributing factor too, but check this out; on either the neck or bridge pickup, I've got the tone cut back to roughly 8.5 to 9 & the tone is just incredibly balanced. Now you want bite? Holy crap, just push that tone knob up a notch (to 10) &  it'll take your head off!! Thanks so much!
