Up for auction is one OVATION 1763 Classicacoustic/electric nylon string guitar. This item is used. GENERAL INFO– This guitar belongs to my father-in-law. He purchased the guitar sometime in the ‘80s and is now in the process of “thinning his collection. Like all of his guitars, this one was always stored in the case when not in use and kept in a climate controlled environment. Accordingly, the guitar is in exceptional condition. CONDITION– I try to overstate the negatives on my listings so there are no surprises. But before I nitpick, you should know that the overall condition of this guitar is excellent. I have seen “new guitars in the showroom that do not look this good! With that said, here goes: HEAD – the top of the guitar is excellent. There is no damage whatsoever to the top and no signs of dropping. The tuning pegs are also in wonderful condition. They turn effortlessly and hold the strings in tune. The gold has a nice shine and some minor signs of age (tiny scratches). NECK – the fretboard is nice. The wood is in great condition. The actual frets do not have that shiny new luster but work nicely. They can probably be restored with a little effort. The back of the neck looks beautiful. There is one tiny ding about the size of a ball-point pen tip (see photo). It’s hard to see and doesn’t really affect the playability of the guitar. It is on the backside of the fifth fret.
BODY – the body looks terrific. Some minor finger-pick scratches where a pick guard would normally appear but visible only close up (again, see photo). The rosette is very nice. The finish is perfect with no cracks or other problems that sometimes occur with Ovations that are not stored properly. The back of the body is excellent. ELECTRONICS – the OP 24 electronics system is excellent. The pickup works like new. The reproduced sound is quite good. The battery light glows green when the test button is pressed. The volume and three EQ levels work well with no noise when used. CASE – the exterior of the case is in great structural shape. There are a few scratches but nothing that impacts its use. The handle has a weird dent/chip that is hard to describe - see photo. The inside is lined and seems to be in clean condition. OTHER INFO– I took the guitar over to the San Francisco Guitar Center. The person who helped me could not determine a value but said that Ovation no longer produces the 1763 nylon classical series. He thought the tuning heads were 24K gold, which is consistent with the archive information at the Ovation website (see http://www.ovationguitars.com/index.cfm?fa=detail&mid=1373)
AUCTION - I start all my auctions at 99 cents and I never have a reserve. PAYMENT– I prefer Paypal but will accept check or money order. SHIPPING– I will ship this item for a flat $35 via UPS or FedEx Ground. I will only ship to a confirmed Paypal address and I do require a signature on all items. If you only have a PO Box, I will charge an additional $15 for shipping (sorry but USPS is not my favorite). All shipping charges include insurance covering the final bid price. If you need the item faster than ground, contact me at auctions end for a price on 2-day or overnight. RETURNS– I will not accept any return on this item unless you find something radically different from what I have described. I take great effort to describe my auctions accurately so no returns because you simply don't care for the item. Thanks for your understanding.
That’s it. If you have any questions, please ask. Good luck and happy bidding.
