In May of 2006 I bought a Kay Vanguard that was missing a small black Volume knob. I had problems finding a volume knob, but when I did, I decided to try and make one. It came out pretty good. So I thought if I needed a knob, there must be others out there who are in the same situation. So I made a set of black volume & tone knobs and listed them on e bay. I was pleasantly surprised when I sold my first set.

          As a result of that sale, the purchaser asked if I could make any other hard to find knobs. I said I could certainly try. He sent me some cream cup cakes and an amber mini.

          My knobs are molded replicas of actual vintage original knobs that are cast in a hardened 2 part epoxy. If the original knob is in nice condition, then the replica knob will reproduce just as nice. If the original knob has dings, scratches, or worn lettering, then the reproduction knob will exhibit the same wear and tear. This only adds to the vintage look and will fit right in with the rest of the vintage instrument.

          These replica knobs I am offering are made as close as possible to the original design. This auction is for the Black cup cake knob where not only does the top of the knob match the original, but the back is also a very close match to the original. See how close this repro cup cake backside matches the back side of an original.

          The cupcake knobs shown in this auction are the actual repro cupcake knobs you’re bidding on. My knob’s, are processed in sets. This means that the color depth of each replica knob will closely match each other because they are made with the same batch of mixed and tinted epoxy. However if you have an original cup cake knob and are expecting a color match, there will be a visible difference in the color tinting between the original and the reproductions. These knobs are for the splined split pot shafts only, no setscrews.

          I take personal checks, money orders and PayPal. Shipment of the knobs will be made using USPS the day after receipt of payment, except for weekend payments.
