Yamaha CGX171CCA Classical Acoustic-Electric Guitar

This guitar has brought me many years of pleasure. She is a dream to play and a joy to behold. Though she does have a few ‘character lines’, my playing habits are such where I haven’t the time to devote to her. She needs to be in a loving home with someone who will care for her the way she deserves.

Condition:

She has a few flaws – none of which detract from her sweet tone. First, there is a crack in the top, from bridge to edge. Since each edge is a boundary, it cannot get worse – in fact, a luthier told me a few years ago that the crack is stable and I would not hear very much of a tonal difference if I repaired it. Two, there is a small ‘string ding’ under the bridge at the high E string. There is also a very tiny finish indentation down by the cutaway – about half the size of a grain of rice. I could not capture it in a picture. Otherwise, the finish is near perfect.

Also, the System 49 preamp consists of two parts, the bridge pickup and the internal mike that can be blended for tonal variations. I play the guitar acoustically and didn’t even realize until recently that one of the pickups is out – I think it’s the internal mike. Amplified, she sounds very sweet, but without a qualified guitar electronics checkup, you will not have full blending capability. None of these problems have kept me from enjoying the very sweet, mellow sound of this guitar.
