Offered for sale is the penultimate Gretsch solid body electric guitar, the  Super Axe model #7680 in red rosewood stain on a birdseye maple body with a laminated rock maple neck.  The ebony fingerboard features inlaid square block position markers.  The fingerboard and head are bound, and the body edges are bound.  The neck is set and has the Gretsch truss rod and gear box adjustment system.

Serial # is 1-9205.

The stock humbucking pick-ups sound great on their own but are augmented by on-board electronics including a phaser and compressor powered by a 9 volt battery.

I believe the only defects on this guitar are the missing silver discs on the knobs and a half-inch scratch at the rear of the head piece.

Roy Clark is pictured playing a Super Axe in one Gretsch ad.  The story goes that Chet Atkins preferred the solid body Super Axe to the Super Chet because the hollow body was susceptible to feedback.
