......better pix coming soon....

Up for auction is  a vintage jackson guitar.  Let me start off by saying that I am not an authority on these guitars---I'm a strat guy. However, I have additional close-up high resolution photos for anyone who would like better pix to determine its true age and origin.  My best estimate is that is an import variety from the 80's--perhaps early 90's.

With that said, let's get down to business on what I can tell you...the color is a deep purple/sparkle/ flake color that's probably  a refin.  I say this because a white undercoat can be seen in the control cavity and in the pup routings.  Additonally, the logo on the headstock is gone.  Either it was painted over or someone removed it.  There is a minor run in the paint on the back of the headstock that i don't think Jackson would have let leave the factory.  However,  the overall paint job is done very well.  It wasn't spray painted in someone's garage, that's for sure.

It is not a bolt on neck.  It's neck through design which i find interesting. Sustain is quite good.  Looked at it again last night and neck appears to have binding as well--tho it is most obscured by the paint job, excpet where play wear has revealed the binding.

It has a stock kahler tremelo and locking nut that are original to the guitar.  No extra holes or obvious signs it was added later on.  There is no truss rod cover and the rod itself has some holes in it that allow for adjustment withouth removing the locking nut.

It has Grover tuners that are original to the guitar.  No extra mounting holes or other signs they've been changed.

The pickups areJackson humbuckers. One of the mounting rings on the front humbuckers has small crack but doesn't affect anything.  It could be replaced or glued back together.

The body is an explorer style.  There are routings on the front not visible in these pix that give it some interesting relief.  In other words, it's not just a flat body cut out like an explorer.

The guitar plays quite well and the electronics work as they should.  It came with a cheap nut that I would replace with bone or corian.  However, with a slight shim, the one provided will work.

The kahler needs to be set up by a pro.  Again, being a fender guy, it's  over my head in terms of proper set up.  There are no missing parts and everything is in order.  As i understand it, these vintage kahlers are moderately valueable in and of themselves.  I think this would make a fun project guitar for the right person.

I accept paypal and shipping will be actual cost, whatever that turns out to be.  My guess is that it would fall somewhere in the 25.00 to 35.00 range in the US----OR if bidding meets or exceeds 150.00 I'll ship for free.  I am at my PC from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm monday thru Friday central time.  Questions submitted during that time will be answered promptly.  Others may have to wait 12 hrs or so.  Additonal photos available upon request.  My feedback is 100% positive so bid with confidence.  Thanks--James C.
