This has been a great guitar for me. I've had it for a couple years now, buying it for it cool looks, but particularly for it's sweet tri-sonic pickups. At the time(....and I still am), I was into the Brian May sound big time and thought I'd try his pickups but in a different guitar to try to approximate his sound. I play a Korg ac30(converted to JMI specs) and using a germ. treble booster and especially a Cornish tb-83 this guitar can get pretty close to some sweet Queen guitar sounds. Other than that it is a very different beast, it can go many different places, from thin and surf/garagy to more modern bigger sound. The tri-sonics I liken to p-90s as far as output goes but you can get a great clean sound with them as well. Really a different sound but somewhat similar to a strat when clean...but different ya know..I had this guitar professionally set-up by Kenny Marshall at AL&M(the one the commercials refer to as the "Fret Doctor" here in Hampton Roads). He's really the best and the frets are nicely dressed and the guitar is in fantastic playing condition with nice low action. The guitar has a few lighter scratches on the back and some barely noticeable marks on the front, some pickguard scraping but you know, in most lights you cannot notice these things. Guitar looks and plays very well. One outer silver knob is missing. I'm sure it's in the band room floor but cannot guarantee it will arrive with the guitar. I'll look for it. I would not be selling if it weren't for the fact that I am moving to a small Brooklyn loft and am having to seriously downsize. I mainly play my Fralin loaded strat anyhow. I have a weird SX Jaguar looking p90 guitar for backup so I'll be good. BTW, this was a VERY hard guitar to find LEFTY.enough with the talk, good luck with the bidding! Please feel free to ask me any questions, i'll be glad to answer. I'll be postnig two more rare lefties this week most likely. Well one is righty, pro converted lefty, 12-string Aria Diamond from late 60's(pictured in last picture of Bison). Another is a Apollo, late 60's violin bass with curved headstock...very cool, wood bridge..Below is a copy and paste of some technical stuff that I found...rock on!"The Burns Bison for sale here is a re-issue of the classic 1962 machine, celebrating its 40th anniversary, the original widely regarded as Jim Burns finest creation. Used throughout the British explosion and invasion of the US throughout that decade, it's appearance these days evokes that great era. Indeed, we sell a lot to 60s groups and tribute bands such as Shadows and Hank Marvin fans.Current day users are many, including award winning artistes such as Damon Gough (Badly Drawn Boy)Capable of the classic edgy vintage sound, the electronics are more than capable of producing the more modern meaty sounds too.Fitted with three Burns Patented Tri-Sonic pick ups, with a clever switching system enabling various combinations of each to allow the user many choices of tone. Select from Wild Dog, Treble, Bass and Split sound with the A/B switch to allow 8 different combinations. The sounds range from a tinny, thin wired tone, gradually increasing in thickness and weight through to a growling supercharged heavy weight snarl.
