Rickenbacker 325 C 58 Mapleglo Maple Body Pre-Production Body was built out in 2004 for Nick Theil who was one of the consultants to the design of the 325 C 58 Model 325 C 58 Mapleglo 2004 Pre-Production Maple Body---I called Rickenbacker to check this story, and it was confirmed by them. They gave me permission to tell the story of how this one of a kind Rickenbacker 325 C 58 with a Maple Body came to be. Rickenbacker makes pre-production models in order to see and feel what the design would become later in production. This guitar has a maple body. As we all know, the production version features an alder body. This guitar started life as a pre-production body buck. The body was sitting in the shop one day when Nick Theil was in the factory, and he offered to buy it if the factory would fit a neck, some special knobs, etc. Rickenbacker agreed to do that, but Nick had to wait for his order just like the rest of us, so the guitar was not built or serialized until 2004.
