1978 FERNANDES BURNY TOKAI made Gold Top Les Paul Rare "RARE" FERNANDES burny gold top les paul made in 1978 at the tokai factory. Nice early example of the lawsuit era. It may be quite collectable. Researching it brought up interesting details. It has the thin binding and smaller historic head like the 58-60 L.P.'s. It has neck binding. Headstock decal is interesting. Reads "Fernandes Electric Sound Research Group. Missing the back volume and tone cover. The tang of "one" of the tuner caps is broken and has been glued. Also looks like one of the tuners has been replaced. The other five read "gibson deluxe". Looks like someone has probably done some soldering or work at the pots and input but the pickups and electronics are in working order. I was going to go through the electronics and replace the back cover but now I'll leave that up to someone else. The top has a thin, nicely aged finish. Neck is true and in excellent condition with great action. Body is in good condition with typical nicks and dings. All in all a very clean guitar and plays great with the vintage feel. These old les pauls out of the tokai factory are highly regarded. Check my auctions for other great gear.
