These basses are becoming quite collectible due to the fact that they've been discontinued for eight years, (Rickenbacker produced them between 1984 and 2000) replaced by the 4001C64 which is nearly identical except for the McCartney-esque lefy headstock, and THOSE are now hard to find!

It also doesn't hurt that they're incredible sounding and looking basses...I've owned and played real '60s 4001s, and honestly, they couldn't hold a candle to one of these babies, tonally OR quality-wise. Very similar tone, only the 4001V63 is about 10 times louder! (Many original '60s vintage horseshoe Ricks tend to have really low output.)

Serial # X0 4291 dates to November of 1997, the pots also have '97 date codes.

Near mint plus condition, appears to have been seldom played. Includes ALL case candy and original unused Ric polish cloth! I'm sure some less scrupulous sellers would even describe this bass as mint, but since I installed a Pickguardian repro Lucite finger rest to give it that final vintage touch, (the finger rest was professionally installed using the installation template provided by Pickguardian, which they say was from an early '70s Rick) I'll call it near mint.

The maple has gorgeous grain...no flame, but GORGEOUS grain pattern.

Condition-wise the bass is an 9.99 on a scale of 10. NO dings, scratches, or wear OF ANY KIND! The basses' finish literally looks like it just left the Rickenbacker factory! NO exaggeration! No cracks, repairs, or funny stuff. No changed parts. Electronics work fine. Straight neck, truss rods work fine, NO fret wear!

This bass is in such superb condition, it's hard to believe that its ELEVEN years old!!!

Weight is estimated at about nine pounds.

Includes original Rickenbacker silver Tolex case in equally immaculate condition.

Expertly set up, fresh Ernie Ball roundwound strings. Low action. You'll be able to gig with this bass the same day you get it!

Will be expertly packed for worry free shipping.
