I'm a new Authorized Hofner Dealer and up for auction is this Brand New Hofner J5 Archtop Guitar.   The pictures you see are of the guitar you will get.  I intend to photograph each new guitar that I place on auction, so you will be able to see exactly the guitar you are buying.

This guitar is actually a limited edition model.  It didn't start out that way.  Hofner contracted this German design to be manufactured in Korea.  After completion of the first run, Hofner was told costs for manufacture of this model ran extensively more than was expected, so future orders would cost substantially more.  Hofner declined, stopped production, so, only 500 of these models were ever made.  Almost all are in the market already.   According to Hofner, there won't be any more made.

This guitar is in Transparent Cherry Red finish.  Not sure how your computer is going to read the color but there is no orange in this.  It is almost identical to the the color of a Gibson cherry red 335, just for your reference.  The body is Flamed Maple, back and sides, with a laminated spruce top.  The lower bout of the guitar is 17" wide, and the body is 3 1/4"  thick at the sides.  It has a comfortable 25" scale neck and the neck is small and very comfortable.  It's a great playing and sounding guitar.  The hardware is gold color, and  the fretboard, bridge,tailpiece, knobs, and pickguard are all ebony wood.  There is 5-ply binding on the guitar. 

The beauty and quality of this guitar is outstanding.  It is no wonder manufacturing costs went far above what was originally budgeted.  The quality doesn't stop with looks.  The sound of this guitar is amazing.  Full and rich, you're going to love the tone.
