I purchased this new in 1993 as a backup and recording instrument. It has primarily been used for rehearsals, but it did go to a few gigs; see the band name stenciled on the original hard shell case where it spent almost its entire life. It has an awesome tone and is extremely playable. I owned 2 other Specials back in the early 90’s, and this was far and away my favorite which is why I’ve kept it so long.

The guitar is in great condition for its age! It has some light surface scratches underneath the strings, a few miscellaneous scratches on the sides, back, and neck, and very small nicks here and there, but the front is very clean. There is some belt buckle worming on the back, but nothing that would come out in the pictures. Unfortunately my camera just didn’t do this beauty justice, and nearly all the blemishes in the pictures are the result of sparkles from the flash. The original frets still have tons of life left because it has never really been played, and it’s currently setup for 10–46 gauge strings. The case does have some nicks in it which means it did its job, and the stencil could easily be painted over with flat black.

The only reason I’m selling it is because parenthood is slowly replacing music. This guitar is only going one direction in value (up! Up! UP!), and I’m already kicking myself for this decision, but I need the money more than the guitar right now. I sure hope someone gives it a great home because this baby really deserves it!
