You are bidding on a 1976 Alvarez 12 String made by the luthier Kuzuo Yairi. The tone on this instrument is deep, rich and bold, the kind of legendary tone one might expect from a 32 year old instrument - not to mention a 12 string! I must point out that this not a guitar for a beginner -- as the action of the strings (which I have illustrated in photos) is not low enough to support the fingerings of a novice. This is a guitar for a player who is looking for the kind of sound that only comes from an instrument that has been around for more than 30 years. I should also point out, again, as illustrated in the photo's, that the neck has "come in" to the body a bit (which accounts for the action) however, after taking the guitar to Rudy's Custom Guitar shop in NYC (made famous for creating the Pensa Suhr guitars played by Mark Knoffler of Dire Straits) they said the neck was straight although, again, the relationship between the bridge and the headstock accounts for the action.

At some point, a Fishman pickup was installed (as pictured). The tuners are original and in perfect working order. There are cosmetic blemishes however nothing serious. As said - this is a 32 year old guitar that has seen a lot of gigs. It is a guitar for someone looking for a more refined kind of tone that comes with age, but is not, I repeat!, not going to be great for instricate finger picking above the fifth or sixth fret, at least in my opinion. It may be that my fingers lack the dexterity! It may be fairest to say that this is a great "strumming" guitar - with 12 strings in a well aged sound box - making for beautiful music.

Buyer pays for shipping - which should be around $25-$30. If you are in or around New York City - you can pick it up from me directly.
