NEW Alvarez MD5000 Brazilian Rosewood Dreadnought GuitarThis gorgeous guitar has SOLID BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD back and sides. This feature is pretty much unheard of in this price range. For instance, a Taylor 810 upgraded with Brazilian Rosewood has a list price of $5,588 (the 810 with Indian rosewood lists at $3,748 as a comparison). Individual luthiers can spend $2,000 or more on just theraw wood alone. Brazilian rosewood is of course renowned for its outstanding projection and warmth. It’s a permanently embargoed product (cutting of trees was outlawed in 1992), so companies offering new guitars with Brazilian Rosewood are relying on their limited pre-embargo (harvested before 1992) supplies. This guitar has a solid Engelmann Spruce top which produces exceptional tone with tremendous sustain and tightly focused bass. It has not been “played in� in the least and it already sounds amazing, so we can only imagine how great the sound will get as the guitar ages. The fingerboard is ebony with a 12th fret oval inlay. Gold die-cast tuners, handmade bridge, exquisite Maple/Herringbone binding and abalone soundhole rosette complete the package. The nut width on this guitar is 1.75 inches. No pickup is installed, so this would make an amazing studio guitar, or you could add your system of choice afterwards (contact us if you are interested in pickup installation) if you are using this for stage performance. The MD5000 comes with Alvarez’ stylish hard foam beige case with hygrometer and plush interior (not pictured, but we can send pics on request). We are also including free UPS ground shipping within the continental US (international customers, please see information below). Alvarez also includes a black pickguard should you wish to add that later on.. We have been Alvarez dealers for many years and will include the Alvarez lifetime warranty on this guitar. This particular guitar is made in China (Alvarez 1000 series and Yairi guitars are made in Japan). We have stated below in the questions section that the guitar was made in Japan, which we were told by our Alvarez sales rep. He then double-checked with his supervisor, who confirmed that the MD5000 is actually made in China. This should not be a deterrent to anyone considering this guitar! There is some really fantastic stuff coming out of China these days, and we have been extremely pleased with Alvarez quality in general, no matter where the country of origin.
